Antelope Island Family Session

April 24, 2019

I had such a great time at this Antelope Island family session with the Baguley family. I met Beci in a photography group we’re both a part of and she was looking for family photos! She posted a photo of her family and they were the cutest and I was honored she let me be the one to help make memories for them.

We chose to shoot around the time of sunset for golden hour, that’s when the light is most dreamy. Initially we were going to go to Ladyfinger Point but there were so many other photographers out at Antelope Island that day (I mean, it’s beautiful!) so we drove a little bit past there so we could have less of a chance of a photo bomber.

As you can see from the photos below we had a wonderful Antelope Island family session! However, kiddos don’t always let things go to plan…it made all of us adults laugh. When we all first met at the cars, the kids were happy go lucky, I was talking to them and we went to chase a bunny while mama was getting the littlest ready. Well, when it came time to start photos, they were not having it! And you know what, THAT’S OKAY! I was still able to get wonderful photos, so not to worry if you are hesitant to do a session because you think your kids won’t behave. I promise we’ll still get good shots!

Beci and William were amazing through the whole experience. To make the session smoother they invited Grandma to come watch the kids while we were switching poses and what not and even brought mini marshmallows along for breaks in between sets. Needless to say, we had fun.

I was also so happy that they wanted couples photos together. We often get so focused on needing/wanting photos of just our kids, but remember it started with you and your partner! Celebrate that and cherish your love! I try to get couples photos at each session, it’s important.
